Cocoa Diaries is proud to announce the creation of the Cocoa Diaries Scholarship. Our mission is to always make sure that every young Black woman is represented, and we will work until she sees herself on our platform. Every semester, Cocoa Diaries will award three Black women with a scholarship to provide financial assistance to those completing their undergraduate studies.
Innaguaral Cohort
We are proud to announce our inaugural cohort of the Cocoa Diaries Scholarship. We are so honored to have such driven women serving and leading their campuses and communities, in an amazing fashion. The inaugural cohort of the Cocoa Scholars are Ariel Metayer, Morgan Threatt, and Baiyinah Ings.
Ariel Metayer is a graduating senior at St. John’s University, in New York. Ariel is pursuing a BA/MA in Government & Politics with minors in Africana Studies and French, with a concentration in International Relations. Ariel has accomplished so much, during her matriculation at St. John’s. She is a founding member of the St. John’s University Chapter of Collegiate Curls. Also, Ariel is a 2020 McNair National Research Achievement Award Recipient. Nonetheless, Ariel is that girl and we are so proud to be able to gift you with this special token.
Morgan Threatt is a graduating senior at the University of Miami, in Coral Gables, FL. Morgan is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. Morgan is the epitome of a boss and student leader! Morgan is the CEO and Founder of her clothing line Bare Basics, which supplies beautiful neutral color clothing items. Morgan is very accomplished as she is the President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, Tau Rho Chapter, a Co-Founder and Editor of The Gravity Magazine, as well as a Video Production Intern for The Olympics. This is only touching the surface of all the amazing things Morgan has and will accomplish. We are so glad to gift you with this scholarship and we cannot wait to see what you do in the future!
Baiyinah Ings is a sophomore at Hampton University, in Hampton, VA. Baiyinah is studying Economics with interests in Marketing. As only a sophomore, Baiyinah has accomplished many feats, such as being a National Hampton Alumni Association, Inc. Endowed Scholar, and a member of the Phi Eta Sigma National Honors Society. Additionally, Baiyinah is the Vice President and Content Coordinator for The College Club, Inc. Baiyinah, we are excited to see your growth and see whatever else you hope to accomplish during your career at Hampton.

Spring 2021 Cocoa Scholar
We are proud to announce our 2nd cohort of the Cocoa Diaries Scholarship. We are so honored to have such driven women serving and leading their campuses and communities, in an amazing fashion. The Spring 2021 cohort of the Cocoa Scholars is Arianna Morgan.
Arianna Morgan is a rising Senior at Howard University in Washington, DC. Arianna is currently studying Public Relations. As a rising Senior, Ari has done the darn thing with not only her scholastic achievements, but also her passion for bringing light to issues related to the Black Experience, LGBTQIA+ Allyship, and Drag Queens. Yes, you read that right! Ari is a star and she is just getting started! Along with her passions, Arianna also is very involved on Howard’s campus, as she was the Marketing Chair for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. She is a student-athlete, y’all! What can she not do? The list goes on, but we are so proud to have awarded Arianna with this scholarship opportunity! Can’t wait to see all that you accomplish next!
